Monkey Mind Pirates - a sensory friendly performance

Sunday, March 22, 2015 - 2:30pm

With funding from The Minnesota State Arts Board, The Autism Society of Minnesota and Z Puppets Rosenschnoz present a sensory friendly performance of Monkey Mind Pirates “the world's only puppet, rock, yoga adventure" about navigating the stormy seas of stress. Sail along with Captain Fitz as he sets out on a quest for the Legendary Island of Calm. When the unruly Monkey Mind Pirates hijack his ship with anxiety, depression and distraction, the Captain goes overboard. Underwater, the Captain learns to change his “Arghs” into “Oms” and return to tame the Monkey Mind Pirates.

Doors open at 1:30 for a Z Puppets Family Happy Hour with creative activities and yoga fun on the Island of Calm!

This performance is the finale to a series of workshops centered around arts and mindfulness specifically designed for families living with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Workshop participants will perform alongside Z Puppets as the Sailor Chorus in this sensory-friendly performance. For families with a child on the autism spectrum, it gives them a rare opportunity to participate in the arts together, while learning a common language and creative tools for finding calm in their lives.
