A new arts funding organization has moved to Minneapolis. It’s called FEAST:, and is an awards dinner with a twist: The audience gets to choose who wins. Organizers hope to make FEAST a seasonal event, with four dinners per year. KFAI’s Britt Aamodt talked to organizer Natalie Bowers at the Minneapolis FEAST premier.

The Minnesota Food Truck Association (MFTA) is once again gathering its truck members for a food truck rally.

Built in the 1890s, the Kirkbride state hospital in Fergus Falls has had a controversial past. Despite being listed on the state’s historical registry, it had been slated for demolition. Last week the Fergus Falls city council agreed to allow a developer from Georgia to convert the vacant treatment center into a $41-million-dollar facility, featuring apartments, a hotel, a gym, and restaurants.

On the next MinneCulture, KFAI producer Susan Gray presents Second Chances: The Story of Fergus Falls State Hospital, and explores the history of this rural institution. Tune in Monday and Wednesday, June 17 and 19, from 7:30 to 8pm.

KFAI’s Jacob McKnite interviewed director Ronit Avni about the 2006 documentary film Encounter Point, which documents the challenges and hopes of Israeli-Palestinian civilian partnerships for peace.

Tomorrow night, the Midtown Farmers Market and Gardening Matters are sponsoring a screening at the Riverview Theater. The documentary called Food Fight, is about our current food system and the national movement towards making locally sustainable food available to everyone.

The movie Fresh:, delivers this message in a positive way. Special screenings of Fresh will be taking place this week in Mineapolis.

The Minnesota Fringe Festival is underway. The action is happening at 15 different Twin Cities venues.

There are 165 shows taking place over 11 days. That’s a lot to take in, but KFAI’s Dave Romm has been doing this for years. He talked with KFAI’s Shiobhan Kierans on The Takeaway about this annual summer performance festival.
