The April 2nd show of Conversations with Al McFarlane, will be recorded live from the Minneapolis Urban League at 2100 Plymouth Ave N in North Minneapolis.  The guest speaker will be Rep. 5th District Keith Ellison, who will discuss the economy, the sequester and what it means for families in the community.

Cyclists filled the downtown Minneapolis streets on Friday August 31st during a monthly protest by the Minnesota Critical Mass Movement.

120 people from the United States and Canada crossed the border into Mexico with humanitarian aid to challenge the Obama administration’s restriction on travel to Cuba. Minneapolis resident Greg Clavey is one of four Twin Cities residents taking part in this mission. Clavey is making his second trip to Cuba with the organization Pastors for Peace.

Former Democratic Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney is running for President, and is seeking the Green Party’s endorsement.

Workers are renovating a number of public housing units in Minneapolis these days due to an infusion of cash from the federal stimulus package passed in February. With critics questioning the stimulus bill’s effectiveness in helping the economy, President Obama sent one of his cabinet members to Minnesota on Friday to join Democratic lawmakers in defending the bill.

Immigrant students and supporters gathered today at the state Capitol to call for passage of the Minnesota Dream Act, which was vetoed by Governor Tim Pawlenty last year.
