Station Announcements

Thank you for supporting KFAI Community Radio! You helped KFAI raise over $65,500 for the fall pledge drive. More than 220 volunteers joined over 935 community members to bring in support of independent, diverse, adventurous information and sounds on your radio dial!

We ended our fall drive at midnight October 8th, two-thirds of the way to our goal.

Join KFAI listeners on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Club Underground:, 335 Monroe Street, NE at 8 p.m.

KFAI Wants Your Input! Please join the KFAI Strategic Planning Working Group for a public forum on SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 18th at 10AM @ In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre located at 1500 East Lake St., Minneapolis, MN

This is to be the first of three public events intended to involve as many KFAI listeners, members, program hosts, and community members as possible.

Tune into KFAI today from 11am until 2pm, to hear a live broadcast of the Presidential Inauguration followed by special programming from Pacifica Radio.

Starting at 11am, Conversations with AL McFarlane will air the swearing in and inauguration speech followed by a live national call in program from Pacifica Radio in place of the noon broadcast of Democracy Now.

I’m proud to announce the launch of KFAI’s redesigned website! I hope you’ll find the site to be aesthetic, user friendly and informative.

Our goal was to invite users to visit and return often to the site to learn about events, peruse the archives, listen live and become more engaged in station activities. We also wanted to encourage visitors to support the station by becoming a donor, a volunteer or an underwriter.

KFAI will be at the Minnesota State Fair!

Come say "Hello!" Wednesday, August 29th or Friday, August 31 – Monday, September 3!

On Monday, May 21, 2012, KFAI’s website adopted a new look for better accessibility and organization. Since the launch, we have heard feedback from our listeners and volunteers about technical difficulties regarding our new website streaming and archive players which replaced the Real Player and mp3 player. KFAI has worked with our Tech Team to improve the quality of playback with these players and bringing back an MP3 streaming option that is compatible with most web browsers including Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Safari.

Currently listeners can either stream KFAI’s archives in our website player by clicking the “Listen Now” icon or through their default media player by clicking “MP3 Streaming.” The “KFAI Live Stream” is now able to play for long periods of time without stalling (a frequent problem when the website was launched); in the event that the Live Stream player does stall, you can always refresh it by clicking the KFAI Live Stream link on the front page. An MP3 Live Streaming option is coming soon.

Please report and email to if you are experiencing difficulty. We are always seeking more ways to improve our media tools for the satisfaction of our listeners who continue to support Radio Without Boundaries.

KFAI invites you for an evening of great Cajun and Zydeco music, food, costumes, dancing and loads of fun at our annual MARDI GRAS PARTY at the Eagles Club in Minneapolis.

The party takes place at the Eagles Club on Fat Tuesday, February 24. Music starts at 7:00.

Music will be by The Faux Playboys, Brass Messengers, Mr. Rolls, and The Rockin’ Pinecones.

City Pages named KFAI Best Radio Station for the seventh consecutive year in its 2007 Best of the Twin Cities issue.

Minnesota lawmakers are currently wrestling with how to balance the state’s budget. KFAI understands the enormity of this budget problem, and recognizes that sacrifices will have to be made. However, one proposal calls for the elimination of important operating grant programs for public radio stations. Public broadcasters like KFAI rely on these state grants to serve our communities.
