March 2018 Global Beat Archives

Opening with 3 tracks from 80 yr. old tenor sax master, Charles Lloyd – in town this week to celebrate his anniversary at the Dakota – with three tracks from his latest release with The Marvels. With a distinct anti-war message from that set, Global Beat moves into the Persian Gulf and North Africa to challenge intolerance and bigotry thru music, cultural heritage, rhythm and sound. "When will we ever learn"… that beauty is shared in every culture and new awareness brings more respect.

Welcome to the first week of our 40th anniversary Spring Pledge Drive. International music has been on the menu from day one, year one – 1978. Celebrating the longevity of a powerful media access platform – surviving, and thriving for Four Decades !

Wide ranging episode – In Honor of the Spring Pledge Drive – Week Two. If YOU like music from Africa (mostly West Africa), Jazz, Charles Lloyd, Bob Dylan or Lousiana Zydeco – check it out…  I especially like the set from Dee Dee Bridgewater !! PS: It is the second week of our 40th anniversary Special Pledge Drive… Feel Free to Join US… BY becoming a Supporting Member of this grand adventure as it continues on its Merry Way !!
